We are thrilled to announce that our new music video is finally here! With the team of the director Pav Pav and director of photography Riccardo Rizzo, this video is a special project that we shot at home. The song reflects the beautiful yet challenging journey of losing oneself while living different lives, sometimes just in our head. I believe the video perfectly captures the essence of going a little crazy. Let me know what you think!
Collaborating with Fabio, also known as The Third Mind, brought a new dimension to the song. His remix infused a stronger message into the track, unlocking its full potential. There is an obvious difference between a song produced by someone like me—experimental and quite new to the technical side—and someone who's been composing and producing music for 25 years. When I first heard the remix, I thought, “Oh my god, this is so much better than the original,” so I wasn’t surprised when Pav told me he was inspired to make a video. Watching how he interpreted the lyrics was fascinating. I'm extremely thankful to The Third Mind for creating a musical environment that’s accessible to a broader audience, yet unique, while maintaining tension and adding an extra layer of emotion.
"I love tinkering with beats and creating new atmospheres, and I don't like being limited by rules. Honestly, I often aim to break them. I’m always on the lookout for new artists to collaborate with, striving to bring out the best in each artist. With Nównøis, all I needed to do was complement and enhance her wonderful melodies. The rest flowed naturally." (The Third Mind)
The second team member of this project was our super talented friend Riccardo Rizzo. The photographer and art director, who happens to be a music producer as well, has joined the crew with his Sony fx3 camera and Ronin pro gimbal with a Ninja monitor. The way he photographed me suffering inside our home took the whole idea to the next level: originally, we wanted to share a video with AI-gen layers all along (like in For Tomorrow), but the footages turned out beautiful, so we kept most of them.
Pav used comfy UI, Midjourney and photoshop for creating the inpainting frames. And then animated with image to video platforms - Luma.ai, Kling and Runway -, and merged it all together in Adobe Premiere.
Honestly, most of the times I have no idea what's going on looking at his screen.
Pav's work is nothing short of extraordinary when it comes to harnessing cutting-edge technologies. It took him a few months to finish this video, and I didn’t always understand why. Instead, I selfishly thought that having a new baby only affected me, overlooking the fact that fathers also face mental health challenges. Pav managed to create something amazing while taking the kiddos to the playground almost every day so I could embrace my artist self. This project btw. helped him understand me better. Poor guy had to listen to the song thousands of times :) The results are indeed a new mind-blowing music video -- not for me, cause I lost mine, as you can see.
I might have never mentioned before that the song was not simply written from the most honest, desperate need to find my way back to myself after becoming a mum. "Like a River" was inspired by feeling lonely and lost after moving to a new country, losing my friends, departing from my family, my whole life, and losing my dog — the only fixed point. Becoming a mum in the middle of a pandemic was just the cherry on top. Did I want to break out from reality? I did. Did I love my life? I did. Was it hard? It's been incredibly difficult, but the most beautiful journey.
Now, having lived in the UK for six years, it feels like the puzzle pieces have finally started to come together. I’m not saying I put them together — because sometimes the only way to enjoy life is to just let things happen. And great things are happening.
Thank you for being here with me and holding my hand virtually, in this beautiful digital space. I will always appreciate your support, and now you might understand me better.
I'm looking forward to reading, seeing your thoughts on the song and the video.
Much love,
Nównøis
